What is inside

Seven sections, 47 questions, one scoring grid

Most LMS evaluations are decided on a feature grid, then regretted eighteen months later on architecture: the connector nobody maintains, the second user directory, the reports that never reconcile. Each section puts one of those risks on the table before you sign.

Three questions, and what the answers tell you

Each question in the kit comes with the answer that should reassure you and the answer that should worry you.

04Where does learner personal data physically reside, and who can access it?

Worrying“In our EU data centre, with SOC 2 certification and encryption at rest.” Reassuring on paper, but your learner data now lives in a second system, under a second processor agreement, with a second breach surface.
Reassuring“It never leaves your instance. There is no vendor-side learner database, so your existing DPA and residency commitments already cover it.”

11How are users provisioned and deprovisioned, and who maintains that mechanism?

Worrying“A nightly sync via our API or SCIM connector.” Ask the follow-up: who fixes it when a field mapping changes, and how long does a leaver keep access?
Reassuring“There is nothing to provision. Learners are your existing users, and your existing permission sets and profiles govern access.”

27Can a training completion trigger a business process without middleware?

Worrying“Yes, via webhooks and our Zapier integration.” That is a third component to secure, monitor and pay for, and one more place your automation can silently fail.
Reassuring“A completion is a record in your org, so your standard automation tools act on it directly, with no external call.”
Who it is for

Written for the three people who decide

L&D and HR leaders

Ask the architecture questions your IT team will ask you later, before the shortlist is locked.

Salesforce architects and admins

A written basis for judging what each vendor will actually add to your org, and to your maintenance backlog.

Procurement and security teams

Residency, subprocessors, licensing models and exit conditions, phrased so the answers are comparable.

Full disclosure

Yes, these questions favour native architecture

We build a Salesforce-native LMS, so we are not neutral about the answers. We are neutral about the questions: every one of them comes from an evaluation a real buyer ran, and any serious vendor should be able to answer all 47 in writing. The last chapter states our own position openly, so you can weigh it, or ignore it.
